True Love Is…

A favourite question in our interviews with answers cut straight from the heart.

Dolores O’Riordan- True love fills you with calm. Not doubts, deception and heartbreak – nor is it that fatal kind of love I sing about in ‘Linger’ because love does not hurt you.

Eddie Vedder- True love has got no ceiling.

Bruce Springsteen- Music. It centres me, gives me a sense of purpose, a sense of identity. Whenever I come home from playing I feel whole.

Adam Cohen-  A state, a place, a noun a verb, the most beautiful word that you ever heard- A line from Hallelujah, Jesus and Buddha, love is a faded sign that you don’t see sometimes.

Hozier-  Something tangible & real – to love someone as a human being

MAY- I believe that true love is honest, unwavering and immortal.

Marcus Foster- True Love is… Hard to find.

Caitlin Crosby- SERVICE. Selfless. Sacrifice

Brandon Malone- Loving someone right where their at, while inspiring one another to be more.

Ben Rothbard- Empowering the one you love.

Rayland Baxter- – True Love is… true Love is… a couple walking around their neighborhood after dinner hoLding hands and wanting nothing but each other… true Love is a huge fight… true Love is what the worLd and all her inhabitants are born with… its a feeLing that i cant expLain… its the most speciaL type of excitement.

Nicholas & the Pessimistics- When you would rather have a bad day with someone over a good day without them.

JP Maurice- For Lovers

Yamir- Understanding, trust, valuing one another, and passion.

Mick Evans- Anything you can’t give up.

Andrew Maxwell Morris- Knowing that you are safe and with someone who completes you in every way. Like a blanket but a very comfy one!

Dave Cheetham- Something everyone one deserves and no one should have to settle for less.

Devin Cuddy- Hard to find, but out there, its a journey not a destination.

Zane Carney- A choice that has become fearlessly unconditional.

Matt Costa- A bottle of Brandy and a good guitar.

Lenka- It’s everywhere. Just let it in.

Francesca Tamellini- Painful

David Newberry- Irresistable

Blue Sky Miners- A myth. Love is all around.

Poor Remy- “True love” now that we’re reading it seems kind of redundant. When you find truth, you find love. I think thats true with anything. Thats why love is so powerful, cause its true.

Augustines- There are many kinds of love. A mother’s, a friends’, a lover, a wife’s, a brother’s.  True love?  Probably being connected with the life you are living, the actual life.  Not the life that is purchased or justified from the outside.

Griffin House- I honestly do not know.  That’s not a sexy answer, I know.  But it’s honest.  I should go look up “love” in the dictionary. That in and of it’s self would be an act of love, to me. Trying to find a proper definition is a great place to begin. I do know this.  I think I have had a bit of an incorrect definition of true love for most of my life. I think we look to other people to fill a big void in ourselves and we think that if we meet “the one” that we’ll feel happy forever and life will be wonderful.  But I don’t think that’s love, I think that is using another person to make yourself feel good.  The closest thing I could maybe venture to say is that true love is unconditional.

Ronald & Nancy Reagan

With Valentine’s Day around the corner it seems fit to post this letter on late President Ronald Reagan’s birthday – written for his beloved Nancy.
A life well lived and a love story for all time.

Feb. 14,1977

Dear St. Valentine,

I’m writing to you about a beautiful young lady who has been in this household for 25 years now—come March 4.

I have a request to make of you but before doing so feel you should know more about her. For one thing she has 2 hearts—her own and mine. I’m not complaining. I gave her mine willingingly, and like it right where it is. Her name is Nancy but for some time now I’ve called her Mommie and don’t believe I could change.

My request of you is—could you on this day whisper in her ear that someone loves her very much and more and more each day? Also tell her, this “Someone” would run down like a dollar clock without her so she must always stay where she is.

Then tell her if she wants to know who that “Someone” is to just turn her head to the left. I’ll be across the room waiting to see if you told her. If you’ll do this for me, I’ll be very happy knowing that she knows I love her with all my heart.

Thank you, “Someone”

Brett Waterman Brings Us A New Season of Restored

“Some of my fondest memories go back to my childhood in Oklahoma when I would drive with my Parents past a Dairy on the way to my Grandparents farm. Over my youth I remember watching it get more and more dilapidated and I would tell my Parents – ‘Someday I am going to buy that Dairy and Restore it.’ – It really stuck with me and that was where my passion for preservation really began.” – Brett Waterman

Restored on DIY Network heads into Season Two in Redlands, California.

It feels a privilege to be invited inside these hand picked Arts & Crafts homes, destined to be touched by Brett Waterman’s infectious enthusiasm. Trusting the expertise and intuition of this Preservationist, home owners are able to invest the best of the old with the new in their restoration projects.

Yes this Craftsman admits stripping paint really is a turn on – as it lights up his curiosity for all that is buried deep within. Brett brings viewers back to a time and place, when roots began to grow – inspiring all to appreciate what came before – and to reinforce the pillars of time. This working man feels most at peace with his hands in the earth, adding the finishing touches to the homes entrusted in his care.

Growing up my own Dad instilled in me to bring the best of yourself to whatever you do – and that is what inspires me most about Brett. Not only does he bring the ‘best of himself’ to what he does – he has the ability to make you fall in love with it too.

One of my favourite interviews to date.

There are loads of ‘renovation style’ shows to spend your time on – but Restored TV with Brett Waterman – is soon to be deemed a national treasure.

Season Two Begins Wednesday January 10th

Bob Marley

On the ‘birth day’ of Bob Marley it feels a quote would be apropos. Digging through his work it was hard to settle on one phrase that defines his vision. He most definitely lived life a free soul – right up to the end – but time teaches us that nothing is really free. Every thing comes at a cost.
We had the pleasure of conversation with one of his former loves Esther Anderson – late one Chelsey night, sitting in his chair, inside the Brownstone building where so many musical moments were born.

We will save her story to share in a music documentary currently unfolding – ‘Love Yourself More’

What we take away from our time spent with her is ‘trust the art – not the artist.’  Seems it is how life goes, and we can appreciate his ability to see a perfect world.

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colors seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.”  – Bob Marley
